Housing

I got home last night (this morning) after being out at the University of MN and decided to send my receipt to the housing administrator in Cape Town. Since I sent it at 2:00am central time, she received it around 9:00am South African time. I woke up to the glorious smell of stuffing being cooked and an email stating my housing placement in Cape Town. I am officially living at 197 Lower Main Road in the Observatory neighborhood. I have my own room in a 17 person house (whoa!). Observatory is the furthest community from campus, but closest to downtown. I mostly am posting this so people can send me packages and mail to my address.. I expect all of you to. Kidding, but seriously, this is my mailing address also!

I am practicing posting pictures right now so I don't have to figure it out while on expensive internet: Green Point Stadium under construction for the FIFA 2010 World Cup

I cannot wait for this to finally come together. A little overwhelmed with all the paperwork I have to do for my extended study visa and all my immunizations, but once my plane takes off, it will finally be time! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

The Beginning...

I am creating this blog to share my experiences in Cape Town, South Africa with the rest of my friends and family. This is the first of hopefully many posts I send during my trip beginning next January. I am flying out on January 20th and on a flexible return date now set for July 29th. Not much to say right now, as I am not in South Africa at the moment. In fact, I am in the first floor north stacks of Memorial Library procrastinating a paper that is due tomorrow morning. I will keep you all updated with more plans throughout the next couple months before I finally make my way to the big ZA. Ciao!
